So far the fallout about fallout 76 is pretty bad.

I have a backlog of 8 years of games.
Normally I'll have a new gaming rig next year and I can start clearing my backlog which has ticked onto 9 years then.
So any recomendations from the last 9 years of awesome games I should play are certainly welcome.

It got off to a rocky start for sure, but it's improved dramatically in recent months, there has been plenty of new content introduced, and lots of bug fixes also. Private servers were released with today's patch.
I've been playing since the start, and don't PVP. I haven't had any issues aside from the occasional bug and blue screen crash, which happens.
Plenty of gameplay videos of my own for lolz too.
Edit: I'm on Ps4 though, PC is a different story. There are hacks, exploits and other shenanigans going on in the PC version.
Yeah I'm specifically looking at the PC version since that will be the one I'll get when I'm through with the other games in my backlog and if I'm still interested then.

Private servers (and other highly-requested QoL features) are gated behind a $13/mo subscription fee.
@kamap The reason you can't find many good reviews is because FO76 is a dumpster fire (I won't mince words). If you have a desire to play a survival/crafting game there are excellent indie/early-access titles on Steam that cost less and will give you far more bang for your buck. Rust, 7 Days to Die, The Forest and Subnautica are just a few.
More so of a dumpster fire on PC, though I do admit the bugs that Bethesda said were fixed continue to resurface. Still a playable, enjoyable game. I managed one of my "godroll" weapons from the Purveyor last night.

Yeah, the Creation Engine is (relatively) new but it still uses the codebase from Gamebryo which is ancient. Many of the bugs in FO76 are exactly the same as ones you would see in games as old as ES4 Oblivion. I only know this because I used to write and publish mods for Oblivion/FO3/NV/Skyrim on the Nexus way back when so I'm familiar with the game engines involved (and the endless, infuriating bugs that these games are known for).
It's too bad Bethesda lost Our Lord And Savior during the Oculus debacle. They could have used his expertise to fix the Creation Engine.
One of the things I like to do in Fallout is design my own unique camp bases.

Sam - "Great. Where were they 6 months ago? Bastards."

I think part of actually enjoying 76 (beyond going solo) is finding a few trustable people that play on your platform. This results in a safe way to mule, as there is no such way to do so on any platform currently, and some good conversation either over headset or via some other method (PSN for me usually).
At the moment my list of friends for 76 is small, one I met on Reddit, another in game, and of course, CDM and one of his RL friends, and one random from in game in 76, who I am not sure I will keep long.
I tend to solo play, explore and usually don't follow the crowd.
